This Base Mark 1972 cup was shaped to be lived with for decades. There is warmth in its hand-finished surface. It is beautiful in the way useful things can be. It feels made for a lifetime of daily use.
The foot ring is neatly trimmed, a quiet detail collectors notice. The cobalt blue gives this cup its quiet personality. Gentle variation in the fine detailing proves it left a real kiln. The balanced composition gives the surface its distinctive character. It carries the quiet pride of Jingdezhen, a town that has fired fine porcelain for a thousand years.
For Chinese porcelain for home decor, it improves with familiarity. For elegant Asian table styling, its simplicity is its sophistication.
