What Wang Meng does with Taibai Mountain Colophons here is the whole argument for classical Chinese painting on one sheet — a fine Asian wall decor. This listing is for the loose huaxin print: the reproduced painting core, without mounting or frame.
Look for landscape, mountains, and handscroll — each given its own breathing room, the kind of Chinese calligraphy wall art worth framing well. Supporting details include colorful and forests. Columns of calligraphy share the sheet with the image, as on the original. Wide and calm, the format invites the slow, traveling gaze of the handscroll tradition. The landscape does what landscapes do in this tradition — put everything in perspective. Layered ridges fade into distance the way memory fades: gradually, then all at once. Wang Meng packed his mountains dense with texture — the Yuan master of the full, breathing landscape.
The kind of purchase you’ll still be glad about next decade — a Chinese art print for framing with real substance. An easy gift for the hard-to-buy-for: beautiful, meaningful, and flat for shipping.
